Why is a soil test recommended?
The microbes will make the difference in your soil health
A soil test for your lawn could be seen as a diagnostic exam for your vehicle
When everything that makes your vehicle operate as it should, from the engine, to the transmission, to the steering, to the brakes, to the fuel delivery system, to the electrical system. When everything is operating properly, you will get the best possible performance, with the highest efficiencies.
Your lawn is no different!
Your Macro and Micro nutrients can be seen as the fuel for your vehicle, while the microbes would be the battery. The fuel can make the car run, but the fuel needs the battery to bring it to "life".
A detailed soil test report can tell you what you need to know about the health of your lawn and potentially save you money and give you the lawn you want to KISS!
A detailed soil test report will show you the levels of your MICRO and MACRO nutirents , your organic matter, and every bit as important, your CEC# (Cation Exchange Capacity).
Most common macronutrients are Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P), Potassium (K).
Some of the micronutrients are Iron (Fe), Manganese (Mn), Copper (Cu), Zinc (Zn), Chlorine (Cl), and Cobalt (Co).
The Cation Exchange Capacity Number (CEC#), is every bit as important as the micro and macro nutrient numbers. The ideal CEC#'s for turf grasses ranges from 15 to 25. When your CEC# falls in that range, all of your macronutrients and micronutrients are being used to their fullest potential and efficiency. When your CEC# is below 15, your nutrients are not being fully utilized and can be leached (lost) in the soil and unavailable. Your macro and micro nutrients can be spot on, but with a low CEC#, your lawn can look extremely deficient and nutrient poor.
